Training

I usually deliver training in a workshop context, by which I mean sessions consist of short lecture / discussion / Q&A periods followed by hands-on practice exercises where people test their understanding and knowledge at a keyboard. This seems to be the most effective way of delivering new ideas in this area.

I prefer training groups of 5 to 15 people. Less than 5 generates insufficient energy and tends to fall rather flat, while over 15 means that individuals may not get the attention they need at the speed they want. Training programmes are usually 3 or 4 days in length. We would usually have 2 sessions before lunch and 2 sessions after, appropriately paced, recognising that there is a limit to the number of new ideas that can be absorbed in one day. It is more effective if there is a gap between the days, allowing people to try out what they have learned, let ideas 'sink in' and to allow any problems to arise so they can be addressed in the following day. This is in contrast to most commercial training which takes place in 3 to 5 contiguous days.

A training room with one PC per user is needed (although people working in pairs can be very effective), with the appropriate software installed, together with a lecturer's PC with data projector. I cannot supply hardware or software.

I can cover the technology indicated on this site. If you want to specify the content covered in detail, this can be done but in that case time will be needed to prepare trhe presentations.

I charge typical consultancy rates. Contact me to discuss your requirements.
